Alkylation of 5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiones with alkyl halides was carried out, where instead of the expected 2-alkylthio-5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles obtained N'-((alkylsulfanyl) carbonyl)benzohydrazides having a linear structure without an oxadiazole ring.
